Joseph's Coat of Many Colors
Welcome to this week of crafts, and interactive learning! This week we are focusing on the story of two brothers Jacob and Easu.
Books of the Bible Focus of the Week: Genesis 37
The Lord said to her,
" Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. 6 He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: 7 We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.”
Key Points of this weeks Bible Story of Joseph
1. Joseph’s Special Robe: Jacob loved Joseph more than his other sons and gave him a beautiful, colorful robe, which made his brothers jealous.
2. Joseph’s Dreams: Joseph had dreams that symbolized his family bowing down to him, which further upset his brothers.
3. Jealousy Turns to Hatred: Joseph’s brothers grew more envious and eventually plotted against him because of the favoritism he received and the meaning of his dreams.
4. Thrown into a Pit: The brothers captured Joseph, took his special robe, and threw him into a pit, planning to get rid of him.
5. Sold into Slavery: Instead of leaving Joseph in the pit, the brothers sold him to passing traders who took him to Egypt, where God continued to be with Joseph.

Parental Tips for this week:
1. Focus on Family Relationships: Explain that families are a gift from God, and even though there may be disagreements, kindness and forgiveness are always encouraged.
• Question: “Why is it important to treat everyone in our family with love, even when we feel jealous or hurt?”
2. Talk About Feelings and Actions: Use Joseph’s story to discuss how feelings like jealousy can lead to hurtful choices and the importance of expressing our feelings in a healthy way.
• Question: “How do you think Joseph’s brothers felt about him, and what could they have done differently?”
3. Highlight God’s Plan: Reassure children that even when bad things happen, God has a plan and can bring good from difficult situations.
• Question: “How do you think Joseph felt when his brothers were unkind to him? How did God help him?”
4. Encourage Forgiveness: Talk about the importance of forgiveness and how God helps us to forgive others, as Joseph eventually forgives his brothers.
• Question: “Is it easy or hard to forgive when someone is unkind? How can we pray for help to forgive?”
5. Introduce God’s Faithfulness: Emphasize that even though Joseph went through hardships, God was always with him, and that He promises to be with us too.
• Question: “Why do you think it’s important to remember that God is always with us, even when we’re sad or scared?”
