Noah's Ark
Welcome to this week of crafts, and interactive learning! This week we are focusing on the story of Noah's Ark.
Books of the Bible Focus of the Week: Genesis 6-9
" 13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out."
Key Points of this weeks Bible Story of Noah's Ark
-
God's Sorrow and Decision:
-
The world had become filled with wickedness, and people had turned away from God. God was saddened by how corrupt humanity had become and decided to cleanse the earth with a flood.
-
Noah’s Faithfulness:
-
Noah was a righteous man who found favor in God’s eyes. God chose Noah to build an ark to save his family and pairs of every kind of animal from the coming flood.
- Building the Ark:
-
God gave Noah specific instructions on how to build the ark. Noah obediently followed God’s commands, spending years constructing the large vessel.
-
The Flood
-
Once the ark was complete, Noah, his family, and the animals entered it. God sent rain for 40 days and 40 nights, causing a great flood that covered the earth and wiped out all living things outside the ark.
-
The Waters Recede:
-
After 150 days, the waters began to recede, and the ark came to rest on Mount Ararat. Noah sent out a raven and later a dove to see if the land was dry. The dove returned with an olive leaf, showing that the floodwaters had receded.
-
God’s Covenant:
-
After leaving the ark, Noah built an altar and offered sacrifices to God. God was pleased and made a covenant with Noah, promising never to flood the entire earth again. God set a rainbow in the sky as a sign of this promise.
- The Rainbow:
-
The rainbow became a symbol of God’s promise and faithfulness to His creation, reminding us of His mercy and love.
